Glory Be, a Watercolor on hand-made paper, which will be at the Plumas Arts Gallery Show in May
From May 1 through May 29, my watercolor paintings and oils will be featured at the Plumas County Arts Commission Gallery in downtown Quincy. May 1 is their monthly Art Walk…locals enjoy the evening and visit all of the galleries in town. The first two piece above will be in this show. They are some of the new paintings that I’ve completed for this show, as I want to feature the incredible scenes of Plumas County.
There is also a new exhibit at Riverfront Art Gallery in downtown Petaluma. I am saddened by the loss of my gallery partner, JoAnn Naylor, who passed away a few weeks ago. We were all shocked and upset because she left very quickly. Her work recently came down, so I have expanded to fill out our space until the next change-over.
My website is nearing completion. www.marileeford.com Katrina Small of www.Katgrafix.com is working on it for me. These websites look easy, but they are not! Takes HOURS of compiling, cross-checking and then sending to get them into place. I’m working on the Naturlich website update, and it seems to drag on forever. The issue is partly just not having big blocks of time to work on it…But is all gets done eventually!
In an earlier post, I showed a spray painted piece. “Ode to Georgia”, above is what it looked like finished. “Ghost Ranch II” and “Glory Be” are also from my sojourn into New Mexico in September.

So here we are, entering the last days of summer…school starts in a few weeks…and my Mondays will once again become consumed with welcoming new nursing students to the wonderful world of caring for our elderly. I so love seeing their eyes open, and their hearts expand as they learn the art of Nursing. I am grieving the loss, at least for the time being, of the IHP program at Dominican. I will have no classes this Fall, once again…at a time when holism is so needed in our world, the loss of the Integrated Health Practices program is not welcome.
Even so, I will use my time to PAINT more.
SO here he is, the King of the Hill. I spotted this proud Llama looking out over the ocean above Tomales Bay. Whatever does he see in the far distant ocean? This is one of my new oil paintings at the Riverfront Art Gallery. Don’t forget the reception on August 16…live music, great company and yummy food and wine!

I’m gearing up to change my exhibit at Riverfront Art Gallery in Petaluma. This will be my first all OIL grouping…I’m enjoying oils and hope to learn more at a class I’m taking this Saturday. I hope you enjoy this painting. It’s called Peace and is the largest I’ve done in oil..24″ x 30″. Don’t mind Herman, our cat, as he pauses in front of the picture as I photographed it.
The reception for the gallery show will be August 16th… we’ll have live music and the usualy good food. Hope you’ll join us.

- Grace
Walking at Schollenberger Park in the early morning, I am awestruck by the beauty of the sun as it emerges from the hills…the swans glide gracefully across the water and I am humbled at my small place in this world. The original painting hung at our store in Sebastopol, Hendricksen Naturlich Flooring, but recently sold at the WASCO Aqua Areas Show in Santa Rosa.

We’re nearing the end of summer, which in Petaluma means that we have cold mornings and very wam days. I’m hoping to do some plen aire painting this weekend. Here is my latest plen aire oil painting from Schollenberger Park in Petaluma. (I’ve not yet mastered the art of photographing oils…The original is brighter.)

Peaceful Morning
